Fields of Gold

Just because I couldn’t resist posting this photo! Our lower paddock is set on a steep hill (perfect for sledging in the winter). If you walk all the way to the bottom, you can no longer see the upper paddock or any signs of the house. Completely cut off,  the view up towards the top of the hill never ceases to delight me. At the bottom it is perfectly still and perfectly quiet. The perspective makes it looks as though the sky is coming storming out from the top of the hill, clouds driving forwards overhead.

And this photo – well, I imagine Russell Crowe’s hand in Gladiator…. the whisper of the wind through the trees, a sea of long golden strands of grass waving to and fro. It is always a wrench to pull myself away and walk back to “civilisation”.
